“The intention was to create a natural healing balm that can be used for an extensive list of ailments and complaints effecting the skin, joints, muscles and more. These balms are applied topically to provide localized relief of pain, soreness and inflammation. They work by binding to a network of CB1 & CB2 receptors which are found throughout the body, including hair follicles, sweat glands and epithelial cells, epidermal keratinocytes and sebaceous glands that are activated by the body’s naturally occurring endocannabinoids. Different ingredients offer different benefits depending on their natural medicinal properties.”
This product is for external use only.
Dry skin: causes
Nature has provided the skin with reliable protection against the loss of valuable moisture: a dense stratum corneum of the epidermis and sebaceous glands, which create a thin lipid film on its surface. This barrier is two-sided: it does not release water and prevents microbes, toxins, and allergens from entering the body. Insufficiency of the lipid layer is the cause of dehydration and an increased risk of inflammatory reactions (infectious, allergic). Deprived of full protection, the skin ages faster: the color becomes dull due to the large number of dead cells, the tone decreases, and wrinkles appear.
There are many reasons for the depletion of the lipid layer and loss of moisture. Depending on the activity of the sebaceous glands, different types of skin are distinguished: dry, oily, combination. The production of sebum is regulated by the endocrine system, therefore, characteristic physiological changes occur during life: in adolescence, the sebaceous glands “process”, and in women in menopause, on the contrary, they significantly reduce activity. Lifestyle, environmental factors, health status affect the skin. The causes of dry skin can be divided into external and internal.
External – associated with environmental influences:
Weather conditions: wind, frost, sun rays deplete the lipid layer and moisture reserves;
Frequent visits to the solarium have the same effect;
Dry air at home or in the workplace, excessive air conditioning stimulates evaporation from the epidermis surface;
Improper skin care: aggressive cosmetics (soap, alcohol lotions, scrubs, peels) destroy the lipid film;
Using detergents without gloves is a common cause of dry hands.
Insufficient fluid intake: if the body receives little water, the skin also lacks it;
Improper diet, adherence to strict diets, excessive consumption of sweets, carbonated drinks, coffee, alcohol affect the activity of the sebaceous glands;
Deficiency of vitamins (especially A and E), minerals: metabolic processes in the body as a whole and in the skin in particular are disrupted;
Skin diseases (allergies, dermatitis, psoriasis, bacterial and fungal infections);
Diseases, especially of the endocrine and nervous systems, of the digestive system disrupt the work of the sebaceous glands and the absorption of nutrients;
Long-term use of certain medications, for example, niacin, diuretics, drugs to lower cholesterol;
Smoking: nicotine destroys hyaluronic acid, which retains fluid in the tissues;
Dysfunction of the kidneys, which may be accompanied by the accumulation of toxic metabolic products;
Aging: with age, the activity of the sebaceous glands, the intensity of metabolic processes and blood microcirculation gradually decrease, the amount of hyaluronic acid decreases.
